By Unicef UK

Location

London, Birmingham, Sheffield, Bristol and Southampton

United Kingdom

Description

COME TO AN ISSUE EVENING NEAR YOU

In the coming months, Unicef UK will be traveling across the country to run a series of issue evenings introducing our new campaign on protecting children against the dangers of toxic air. It is perfect for any person who wants to hear a bit more about the campaign, Unicef UK and how to get involved.

These events will equip you with all the knowledge and skills you need to support our new toxic air campaign. It is also a great way for you to hear from Unicef UK experts and meet like-minded people who can share their own experiences of campaigning.

We hope you can join us at one of our issue evening in the following locations:

Are you unable to attend in person? RSVP to find out about future events or check out our full Children's Champions training programme here

Unfortunately, we have a limited number of spaces available at our training events so places will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.

If you are unable to attend any of the above dates but would like to be informed of future Unicef UK campaign training, please email activism@unicef.org.uk

WHY AIR POLLUTION?

Air pollution is an invisible but dangerous threat to children’s health. Toxic emissions can damage children’s growth and leave them with lasting health problems. In 71% of UK towns and cities, children are breathing unsafe levels of air pollution. Around 1 in 3 babies are growing up in areas of the UK with unsafe levels of particulate matter – that’s nearly 270,000 babies under the age of 1 in the UK.

WHY WE NEED YOU?

Unicef want to ensure child-friendly measures are put in to place across the UK, to ensure children breath clean air where they live, work and play. As a Unicef supporter, we want to bring you together to talk about how you can get involved and help us realize

However, you do not need any previous expertise or knowledge of the subject to attend and it will be very laid back in nature.

We live in a dangerous world. Every day children face violence, disease and hunger. They are battered by the chaos of war and disaster and forced to flee their homes. They are denied an education.

Unicef ensures more of the world’s children are vaccinated, educated and protected than any other organisation. We have done more to influence laws and policies to help protect children than anyone else.

For 70 years we have been there for children in danger. Unicef was created in 1946 to help protect children after World War 2 and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child is the basis of all of our work. Today we’re still helping children in some of the world’s most dangerous places.
